Anchorage's Hunter Guarino, a black belt competing for Tanaka's Martial Arts Academy, earned a spot on the USA Karate Team competing at the Maccabiah Games in July.
The Maccabiah Games is sometimes called the Jewish Olympics. More than 8,000 athletes from 60 countries compete in 31 sports at the Games.
The trials for the U.S. karate team finished on Sunday.
Guarino will compete in kata (forms) and kumite (free fighting) in the 16-17 year-old age group.
