48.37-pounder wins Ship Creek derby

David "Hillbilly" Edmonds of Anchorage has been declared the first-place winner in the Ship Creek Slam'n Salm'n Derby, which ended today at 3 p.m.

His 48.37-pounder caught Tuesday was the biggest fish by more than 10 pounds and earned him a 14-foot Zodiak inflatable boat and other prizes.

Brian Patterson finished second with his 37.95-pound salmon reeled in Monday.

The annual king salmon derby benefits the Downtown Soup Kitchen.
