Dimond riflery team claims CIC championship

The Dimond Lynx capped a phenomenal riflery season Friday, sweeping Eagle River 7-0 to win the Cook Inlet Conference regular-season title.

With only one loss, the Lynx swept six of seven opponents this season. Last season, they came up one point shy of winning the title.

"It's been a remarkable season," Dimond coach John Snead said. "It's been a long time since we've won the regular- season title."

Dimond's top shooter Quinton Cluff fired a match-high 288, while its B team notched a season-high 1,121 points.

Eagle River's Janine Dutton's 284 tied her season-high.

Ariel Evans led all shooters, firing a 285, and Elizabeth Phillips' 284 followed, which helped lead the Eagles to their third sweep of the season.
