Summer Fun Camps

The Alaska Club Summer Fun Camps are available at our East and South locations. The camps emphasize healthy active fun and offer creative activities and a variety of sports to keep children active all summer. Sports include tennis, baseball with the Anchorage Bucs and Glacier Pilots, soccer on an indoor field, swimming lessons, basketball, karate. Classes are focused on fun, not competition. The sports sessions are designed for all fitness levels. Camps are licensed by the Municipality of Anchorage. Day care assistance accepted.

Dragons, Dandelions and
Daydreams
Description: Nature studies and stories inspire creative explorations with paint, flowers, silk, beeswax, insects, berries, music, crafts and cooking. This camp follows the structure of a Waldorf kindergarten with imaginative outdoor play, circle time and puppetry.
Ages: 4-6

The Four Elements
Description: Campers spend their day outdoors, working with the four elements: earth, air, fire and water. Activities include woodworking, cob construction, candle making, felting, and natural dyeing. Learn how to batik, to make musical instruments, and to create soothing lip balm. Bake bread with hand-milled grain in our hand-built oven and add freshly churned butter. Enjoy stomping in the mud and then cleaning up with soap made right at camp.

Camp Bear Valley
Sponsor: Bear Valley Community Association
Description: Camp Bear Valley offers swimming, hiking, biking, gymnastics, arts and crafts, cooking and science activities along with weekly field trips to fun places like the Reindeer Farm, Exit Glacier and the Anchorage Botanical Garden. Children can make friends and develop social skills as well skills in the arts and sports all while exploring Alaska’s great outdoors.

Camp Sholom

Description: “Our Favorite Things” is a camp for kids, by kids, where we do kids’ favorite things. Our camp staff asked a team of school-age children to have a say in planning our summer. They organized art, games, field trips, outdoor activities, swimming, guest speakers and a lot more. We’ll have car washes, lemonade stands, outdoor art installations, building things from recycled materials and a bit of lounging around. Every kid enrolled gets a chance to be Kid of the Day, where we do all their favorite things for an entire day! Kids of all backgrounds/abilities welcome.

Camp Si-La-Meo

Description: The campus at Alaska Pacific University provides the perfect environment for campers to experience nature and participate in outdoor activities. A wide variety of exciting programs allow children to discover new interests as well as to practice favorites, all under the guidance of caring, trained adult staff. Counselors help campers set goals in activities such as archery, swimming, boating and rock climbing, and track each camper’s progress.

Description: This program offers the school-age child an opportunity for fun and socializing, as well as a chance to grow physically, intellectually and emotionally. Children participate in the planning and decision-making process for the program. Indoor activities involve do-it-yourself science projects, arts and crafts, sewing/knitting, board/card games, reading and library time and building work. Outdoor activities include games and hiking at various parks, gardening, group sports and other forms of physical education. There will be one large educational field trip each week.

Gymnastics and More

Description: Our year-round preschool and kindergarten are unique because we incorporate gymnastics into the school day. We stress reading and math readiness, along with playtime and gymnastics equally every day. We are a licensed program and must meet all the MOA requirements. Each afternoon, the students take part in outdoor activities and field trips or participate in other learning experiences. The children will continue their academics during the summer months. Space is limited, so register early to ensure enrollment.

Description: Pretty Princess camp is a journey into the enchanted world of princesses. This is a serious princess in training camp, so if your child(ren) act somewhat like a diva this camp is for them. This camp will be filled with wonder and excitement. Arts and crafts, dance and tumbling will be offered each day. There will be a royal tea party the last day of camp. Ages 3-4 years will perform a folk dance and the ages 5-7 years will demonstrate “Peter and the Wolf.”

Description: Girls learn about the world around them and have lots of fun without going too far from home. Frolic down Fireweed Lane, play games at Caribou Crossing, learn to use a bow and arrow at archery, listen to the birds at Moose Run and cook your lunch over a campfire in Birch Hollow. At Winding Trails Day Camp, campers will be outside all day, rain or shine. Our motto is: “Wear old clothes, get dirty, ask questions and have fun!”
