Video: Combining parachuting and skiing in the Alaska Range

One of Red Bull's latest extreme sports films, "The Unrideables: Alaska Range," features a relatively new sport called speedriding. A cross between parachute flight (whether paragliding or skydiving) and skiing, speedriding has been around for about a decade.

Skier Jon DeVore, a native of Juneau, brought together a team of elite aerial athletes to the mountains of the Alaska Range in search of the perfect line to fly and ski. Their goal: to advance the sport of speedriding in America's most extreme mountain landscape. "I think what we're doing is the first step in educating the world on our little world. And I think it's going to open everybody's eyes to what's possible," says DeVore.

ESPN reports that speedriders can attain speeds of up to 100 mph, much faster than paragliders, which may see a range of speeds roughly between 15 and 45 mph.
