Video: Diving 'The Shackle' in Resurrection Bay

Cliff Murray is one of the founders of the online community of diving enthusiasts called Alaska Underwater Adventures (AKUA). When he dives, he typically travels on the "Bottom Time" boat operated by his dive shop, Dive Alaska in Whittier. In this video, Murray explores The Shackle, a dive site in Resurrection Bay. The spot is a favorite of experienced divers and students alike. Murray says The Shackle "is frequently visited by sea lions, and hosts an array of sea life including several species of rockfish, halibut, lots of different sea stars, and at least two different species of anemone."

Murray uses a basic GoPro and underwater lights for his amateur filmmaking efforts, with spectacular results. "The colors pop because of the really bright lights that I have. Without 5000 lumens (total combined), everything has a bit of a grayish/greenish tint to it," Murray said.
