Video: Homer's 12th annual Burning Basket ceremony

Mavis Muller's temporary community art project Burning Basket weaves together local organic materials from the coastal environment of Homer, Alaska. This year's theme was "Reach"; members of the community were invited to add flowers and notes of celebration or remembrance.

The sculpture was vandalized Friday and Saturday evenings and was rebuilt from the pieces that remained the morning of Sunday, Sept. 13, 2015. The basket was burned at sundown that evening, with drumming, fire spinners and community members of all ages there to celebrate the end of summer.
