Video: 'Unseen-Seen' art show shines light on Anchorage's homeless

"Unseen-Seen" is a group art show at Beans Cafe in Downtown Anchorage that aims to shed light on Alaska's homeless population. Through portraits of the homeless, artists share stories of struggle, pain, fear and tragedy. But there are also stories of joy, resilience and hope. The project attempts to capture individuals' essence in a honest and respectful light.

The show takes place Friday Jan. 15, 2016 from 2-3:30pm at Beans Cafe, located at 1101 E. Third Ave. in Anchorage. It will include work by artists Michelle Xiao, James Temte, Steve Gordon and David Pettibone, as well as John and Katie Alley. Local singer-songwriter Melissa Mitchell will also perform.
