Eighteen people from 12 countries became U.S. citizens Tuesday, Sept. 27, at the Begich Boggs Visitor Center at Portage Lake. The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services has been holding citizenship ceremonies at national parks and other venues including Glacier Point in Yosemite National Park, on the Civil War battlefield at Vicksburg National Military Park, the base of Mount Rushmore, Ellis Island, and at the foot of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool.
