The Coast Guard has come to the rescue of two orphaned walrus calves found near Barrow. The Alaska SeaLife Center in Seward says there were no commercial flights available to transport the calves, so the Coast Guard stepped in.

A male Pacific walrus calf is under the care of the Alaska SeaLife Center in Seward after it apparently was separated from a herd near Barrow and discovered by fishermen in a lagoon. It's the first walrus calf at the center in five years.
