Wedding, engagement and anniversary notices run every Monday in the Life & Style section and are regularly among the most popular items in the paper.

In the past, because of staff and space constraints, we have limited who can submit notices, what they can say and how long they can be. For example, we did not accept anniversary notices for couples married fewer than 25 years or engagement or wedding announcements for couples who don’t live here. Anniversary announcements have been limited to 350 words, weddings to 300 and engagements to 200.

Beginning April 7, we will lift those restrictions and start charging a modest fee to offset the cost of publication.

Fees will be based on length, starting at $5 for a 70-word wedding or commitment notice, $55 for a 200-word engagement announcement and $75 for a 350-word anniversary notice. (Anniversary notices up to 200 words for couples married 40 years or more will be free.) There is no charge for photos, which are encouraged, and all announcements will have individual presentations online, where couples may choose to add guestbooks and photo galleries.

Announcements will be edited for clarity and style, and, as before, all announcements become the property of the Anchorage Daily News and may be republished in any format.
