Bizarre comedy act comes to Bear Tooth
A TV screen barely can contain John Bizarre. You know this if you've seen the comedian's gags on "The Tonight Show," "Comic Strip Live" and "Evening at the Improv" or as host of E!'s "Talk Soup." His facial contortions, wild animations and rapid-fire delivery have made him a comedy club favorite. Bizarre, above, will get wicked funny at 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Jan. 30 and 31, at Bear Tooth Theatrepub. Seattle comedian John Ferluga will open along with hosts Glen Anderson and Jerry Evans. Tickets are $12.
Neon-blonde Whyte sings the blues
With a name like Ellen Whyte, you'd never guess that she's known as the "Neon Blonde of Blues." But she has garnered critical praise and is a favorite at the Cascade Blues Association's Muddy Awards. John Foyston of The Oregonian says, "Ellen has an arresting voice that allows her to deftly chart a course between blues shouter and jazz chanteuse." Whyte, above, will come to Anchorage with guitarist Jesse Schmunk and bassist Sonny Boyardee to perform at 9:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Jan. 30 and 31, at Blues Central, 825 W. Northern Lights Blvd. Admission is $15.
Singer goes Celtic with 'Land o' the Leal'
