Hilltop Ski Area

Hilltop Ski Area opened one run - Caribou - over the weekend and will continue to operate on their regular seven-days-a-week schedule. Hilltop plans to open another run if the weather stays cold enough to sustain snow-making operations.

2009 Ski for Women

 The 13th annual Ski for Women at Kincaid Park on Sunday, February 1, 2009.  About 1,150 women and girls participated in the cross country ski event which benefits local non-profit organizations helping to stop the cycle of domestic abuse against women and children.

The Ski for Women is a race for some and a party for most.

Anchorage weather: Jan. 14-16, 2009

Stranded cars were a common sight around the city Tuesday morning, such as this one on Ingra. Anchorage streetswere glazed in ice as warm weather and rain rolled into the area late Tuesday and Wednesday morning, January 14, 2009. Driving conditions forced the closure of area schools.

From -20 degrees to high 40s in only a couple of days, the weather shift has caused havoc in Anchorage, turning roads wet, icy and very dangerous.
