Joshua Saul, a staff writer at Alaska Dispatch, takes Dispatch readers on a tour of our Merrill Field offices. From dogs in the newsroom to breakdancing in the sales office to the mad genius in the closet, life at Alaska Dispatch is anything but boring.
Our location -- right next to an active taxiway at Anchorage's original airport -- provides us with a scenic view of the Chugach Mountains and daily diversions as our work is interrupted by the occasional plane or helicopter passing by. Working at an airport is convenient for Josh, who edits our Bush Pilot blog, and for the whole staff when it comes to launching coverage of stories that require travel to remote locations like Little Diomede or checkpoints along the Iditarod trail. (The hangar's right out back.)
