Alaska's first DNA-only arrest warrant

According to a press release from the Anchorage Police Department, authorities have issued a warrant for the arrest of a man who sexually assaulted a woman at knifepoint in the Ship Creek area a short time before the early hours of Aug. 9, 2000. That police are looking for a rapist in Anchorage is not unusual, sadly, but this warrant is unique. It's the first time in Alaska history that a DNA profile is charged while the identity of the assailant is unknown. Read the full release at KTVA-TV, here.
