'Ambitious and compassionate women' ski some 'rad' Alaska slopes (+Video)

SheJumps, a non-profit organization dedicated to creating a community of "ambitious and compassionate women", through various events and activities, ventured to the Southcentral Alaska community of Girdwood recently to "try and ski something rad in Alaska, all by ourselves."

In a video posted on Oct. 1, professional skier and SheJumps founder Lynsey Dyer says, "We've got three trucks, four ladies, four sleds, a one-bedroom cabin in the woods, all the peanut butter and jelly we can eat, and two days where we're praying for light and conditions" in order to ski some of Alaska's most popular mountains.

The all-female group called the journey a "trip of a lifetime" on their YouTube page. The video shows the four girls goofing off, shooting guns, and of course, zipping through powdery snow on the treacherous faces of the Chugach Mountains.

The goal of SheJumps is to "increase female participation in outdoor activities by building upon a supportive community that inspires its members to reach their highest potential."

Next up for the group? Skiing in Kashmir, India. Find more information at their website.
