Get ready Alaska, here comes yet another reality TV show. "Married to the Army: Alaska," filmed in state and based out of Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, is gearing up for its premiere on Sunday night on the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN).
The show features seven women, ranging from Army-life first timers to seasoned home-front veterans, who've formed a "sisterhood" bond around the unique demands of the Army lifestyle.
OWN has often struggled to fulfill the demands of Oprah Winfrey's "Live your best life" mantra -- finding shows that are emotional and compelling, without feeling like the equivalent of broccoli TV. By that measure "Married to the Army" is a solid addition to its lineup -- and one that doesn't require Oprah's oncamera presence. Unlike many reality shows, moreover, it's inherently emotional -- which, given OWN's profile, could be the foundation for a TV marriage that's built to last.
Cable provider GCI says that "Married to the Army: Alaska" premieres Sunday night at 9 p.m AKST, but be sure to check your local listings for airtime variations.
