Do-it-yourself baggage tags coming to Alaska Airlines kiosks

Most airline passengers are accustomed to using the self check-in kiosks at airports; these days many people print off their boarding pass before even leaving home. But Jaunted reports that soon Alaska Airlines passengers may be adding another step to the do-it-yourself airport routine – slapping on their own baggage-tag stickers.

The first baggage tag printers have already been installed in the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, with more slated to receive the option later this summer. Passengers will print off the baggage tags and stick them around the handle of their bag, just like the customer service agents do, before handing it off for security screening.

Will this be a boost to Alaska Airlines, which in June received the top spot for customer service in the airline industry, according to one study? Or will people dislike the new procedure?
