Different number, but it was the same Zack Bowman for the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football.
Wearing jersey No. 38 – not his customary No. 35 – the fifth-year cornerback who graduated from Anchorage's Bartlett High School, looked like his old self during the Bears in a 13-7 victory over Detroit.
This was Bowman's first game of the season, but it was like he never left Chicago.
Bowman played on special teams, made two tackles and recovered a muffed punt. His recovered fumble in the third quarter led to a field goal and an insurmountable 13-0 Bears lead.
This is Bowman's second stint with the Bears after playing in 46 games from 2008 to 2011. Then he became a free agent and was picked up by Minnesota, but the Vikings released him before the NFL season got started in September.
Bowman rejoined the Bears a few days ago. Bowman has the propensity to make big plays at the right time in Chicago. It's like he was born to play there.
The fumble recovery was the fourth of his career. He also has seven career interceptions and one touchdown.
