Kirsten Dixon's Tutka Bay Lodge named among Fodor's 100 Hotel Award 2012

James Beard award-winning Alaska chef Kirsten Dixon is known for her locally inspired dishes. But now she adds another accolade, as her Tutka Bay Lodge has been honored as one of Fodor's 100 Hotel Awards for 2012.

The second-annual Hotel Awards "showcase the most distinctive hotels to book right now," according to the website. Fodor's considered over 4,000 hotel nominations across 41 countries, and selected only 100 to honor.

Filed under "Trip of a Lifetime" by Fodor's, Tutka Bay Lodge is said to be nestled in a "magical spot" on a 7-mile-long fjord accessible only by boat at the southern end of Kachemak Bay, near Homer.

The lodge is located on a ten-acre property, with six private guest accommodations, according to Within The Wild website. Activities at the lodge include morning yoga, cooking classes conducted in a converted crabbing boat, and a helicopter sightseeing. Guests can also attend wine-and-cheese receptions and eat fabulous food orchestrated by Chef Dixon.
