Logo contest: Happy 100th birthday, Anchorage!

In 2015, Alaska's largest urban area, Anchorage, will turn 100 years old. In anticipation of the centennial, the city is preparing a series of events and festivities in tribute of the historic land auction that established the township back in 1915. The first of those events will be the Anchorage Centennial Committee's Official Anchorage Centennial Logo contest.

The committee invites all Anchorage residents to submit handmade designs for the 2015 centennial logo. According to the committee, the contest will help involve the community in celebration preparation as well as inform the public of the city's upcoming centennial festivities.

The logo contest sports three divisions of eligibility: an adult division (any adult resident of the Municipality of Anchorage), a youth division (any K-12 student in the Municipality of Anchorage) and a team or classes division.

Requirements for entries are simple: Logos must contain the terms "Anchorage," "Alaska" and "Centennial." They must be submitted in color and have certain dimesions. Adult participants should present their designs for judgment to the Anchorage Centennial Committee by Nov. 2, 2012. Youth and mixed divisions artists have until March 1, 2013.
