Yet another national list; this one, made up by the online reservation service Open Table, has released a list of the top 100 "Best Scenic View Restaurants" around the U.S. for 2012, as determined by Open Table users.

The majority of the "top 100 scenic restaurants" ended up being trendy, high-end spots in California and Washington state. Diners in less-populous parts of America -- not to mention Alaska, where even the most unappealing restaurants can feature a million-dollar view -- are forgiven for raising an eyebrow at the survey results. After all, only so many restaurants in the country use Open Table for reservation bookings, and for that matter, only so many Alaska restaurants take reservations.

Regardless, Open Table names Seven Glaciers, in Girdwood, and The Crow's Nest at the Captain Cook Hotel in Anchorage, as two of the top 100 restaurants with a view in the 50 States.

Open Table provides an elegant summary of each Alaska location:

  • Seven Glaciers, an AAA Four Diamond Award-winning restaurant, is situated high atop the resort mountain Alyeska and accessible by tram! It offers "signature Alaskan entrees in an elegant atmosphere" and "is extraordinary" from tram ride up to tram ride down.
  • Hotel Captain Cook's swanky Crow's Nest provides a charming panoramic view of the city of Anchorage, the Chugach Mountains and Cook Inlet. The 'Nest' presents diners with "innovative French and New American cuisine, paired with an outstanding selection of over 10,000 different wines.
  • What more could you ask for? Maybe a bistro in spitting distance of North America's tallest mountain? Or maybe a seafood shack on the Homer Spit, smack in the middle of mind-blowing Kachemak Bay?
