Anchorage residents, prepare yourselves for a pre-Halloween pre-apocalyptic sight: Gray, slow moving bodies outfitted in ragged clothing, arms outstretched and groping are set to descend on the city this weekend.

A hotbed for the undead will come to life between 9 a.m. and 4 pm. Sunday on E Street and the corner of 9th Avenue L Street in downtown Anchorage.

The Municipality of Anchorage has issued an official public warning alerting residents to the impending zombie activity, least someone thinks, this is it. It's really happening. Residents, rest assured it is only a commercial.

The Office of Emergency Management (OEM) and the Department of Health & Human Services (DHHS) project have paired up to film a zombie-centric news report in preparation for the national "Zombie Preparedness month," which falls annually in October. According to the Municipality's press release, an estimated 80 volunteer zombies will turn out for the shoot.

The Municipality, OEM and DHHS "would like to assure the residents of Anchorage that these are not real zombies" and "please do not attempt to exterminate" the actor-volunteers. Further, if you find yourself engaged in a "zombie encounter" be polite and do not antagonize or berate them, for these zombies have traditional human feelings.

Again: This is not a shoot-to-kill scenario. Consider yourself warned.
