Snow falls and fireworks fly as Anchorage celebrates the start of a new decade

Revelers in downtown Anchorage celebrated the new year with live music, dance performances, food trucks and fireworks.

Thousands gathered in a lot at Third Avenue and E Street for the Anchorage New Year’s Eve celebration Tuesday night. The party, hosted by the Anchorage Downtown Partnership, featured live music, dance performances, food trucks and fireworks.

Winter weather returned to Anchorage in what had been an unusually warm day. By the time the fireworks launched from Ship Creek, snow fell steadily as families gazed up at the sky to the north. Take a look at a few scenes from the festivities.
