Watch: Take a tour of Great Northern Cannabis on harvest day

Harvest season comes every couple of weeks at the Great Northern Cannabis growing facility in South Anchorage. On Sept. 6, employees cut and trimmed plants for drying while hundreds of pots were moved into flowering rooms.

Jordan Huss, vice president, said the company began growing in February and had its first harvest in May. Though the company is now in the rhythm of perpetual harvesting, it'll take time before the business is profitable, considering the investment it took to get this far, he said.

"We're not looking at this as a get-rich-quick scheme. We're looking at this for longevity."
