Troopers: 2 found dead following Soldotna house trailer fire

Alaska State Troopers say the remains of two people were found in a burned house trailer off of Funny River Road on the Kenai Peninsula early Tuesday morning.

Troopers got a report about the fire at the trailer in Soldotna around 2:17 a.m., according to a dispatch posted online.

"It was further reported that there were two people believed to be inside the burning structure," the dispatch says.

Central Emergency Services and Homer Electric Association responded to the scene along with troopers.

Once the fire was suppressed, CES firefighters did a search of the trailer and found two bodies, troopers said.

The bodies will be sent to the State Medical Examiner Office in Anchorage for positive identification and autopsies, troopers said.

The State Fire Marshal's Office was notified and a deputy fire marshal responded from Anchorage to conduct an investigation into the cause and circumstances of the fire.
