Fairbanks man killed in Parks Highway collision near Healy

A 31-year-old Fairbanks man was killed in a vehicle collision on Saturday evening on the Parks Highway, according to Alaska State Troopers.

Justin Yurong died in the crash after his vehicle crossed the center line near Mile 254 of the Parks Highway, near Healy, around 6:30 p.m. Saturday. Yurong's 2016 Jeep Cherokee struck a 2016 motor home heading northbound, driven by 67-year-old Jack Gannon of Spokane, Washington. Yurong was declared dead at the scene. Neither Gannon nor any passengers in the motor home were injured.

The Tri-Valley Volunteer Fire Department and McKinley Village Volunteer Fire Department helped with the investigation, according to troopers.

Both vehicles were a total loss, troopers wrote.

Correction: An earlier version of this story misspelled Yurong's last name.
