Unalaska police investigating death of Oregon man found lying on roadway

A 32-year-old Oregon man was found dead, lying face-down on a road in Unalaska Sunday morning, police in the western Aleutian town said.

Unalaska police found Mitchell B. Bovard of Albany, Oregon, across from a NAPA Auto Parts store on Airport Beach Highway at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, the Unalaska Department of Public Safety said in a statement. Police were investigating a report of an "unconscious man in the road."

Bovard was taken to a local clinic, where he was pronounced dead.

His cause of death is under investigation. Police have not said whether they believe foul play is involved.

Bovard's remains are being sent to the State Medical Examiner Office for an autopsy, the statement said.

Unalaska police want to talk to anyone who was in the area of the NAPA Auto store at 300 Airport Beach Highway on Sunday morning. The Unalaska Department of Public Safety can be reached at 907-581-1233.
