Troopers: 2 bodies found at Byers Lake campground

Two bodies were found this past week at Byers Lake Campground in Denali State Park, Alaska State Troopers said in an online report on Friday.

On Tuesday at about noon, Troopers and state park rangers responded to the campground near Mile 147 of the Parks Highway, north of Talkeetna, after receiving a report of a deceased man and woman there.

The two people have been tentatively identified, Troopers said, "but investigators are awaiting positive identification from the (State Medical Examiner) to release their identification."

A maintenance worker found the bodies, Troopers spokeswoman Megan Peters said in an email.

Investigation into how they died is ongoing, Troopers said. The report did not include information about whether or how the two people may have been connected.
