Icing on roads in Anchorage and Mat-Su overnight into Tuesday led to accidents for Anchorage commuters and closed schools in Mat-Su.
The left lane of the southbound Glenn was closed at Eagle River bridge due to an accident there, Anchorage police said in an update Tuesday morning. Another accident closed a southbound lane of the highway at Thunderbird Falls early Tuesday, police said.
The Matanuska-Susitna Borough School District also closed four schools in the Susitna Valley Tuesday: Willow Elementary, Trapper Creek Elementary, Talkeetna Elementary and Su Valley High School. All other schools were open.
