Man killed by hit-and-run driver on Midtown Anchorage street, police say

A man was killed overnight Wednesday in what police say was a hit-and-run collision on East Benson Boulevard.

Officers responded just after 2:30 a.m. Wednesday to the 300 block of East Benson Boulevard for a report of a man lying in the road, according to an Anchorage Police Department alert. They found the man dead in the far left lane between A Street and Denali Street.

It appears he was hit by a vehicle, police said.

No witnesses to the collision had come forward as of early Wednesday morning. Police ask anyone with information regarding the incident, including surveillance footage, to call APD Dispatch at 311 (option 1).
