A search was underway in Big Lake after a man fell from a boat early Sunday and did not resurface, Alaska State Troopers said.
The man fell from the back of the boat just before 4 a.m. and could not be found by the boat operator or other occupants, troopers wrote in an online statement. The operator had not been drinking but the occupants of the boat had been, troopers said.
The Mat-Su Borough EMS Dive Team, MAT+SAR and Alaska Dive Rescue were assisting with the search, troopers said.
Troopers asked the public to avoid the area near Burston Island on Big Lake Sunday as the search was ongoing.
