Search teams are looking for a man who disappeared swimming in a Fairbanks lake Sunday

Search and rescue teams are searching for a man who disappeared while swimming in a Fairbanks gravel pit lake with family and friends on the Fourth of July, Alaska State Troopers said in a report.

At about 8:15 p.m. on Sunday, Fairbanks resident Nathan Charlie, 43, went under the water and has not been seen since, troopers said.

Search and rescue teams looked for Charlie in the gravel pit lake near Chena Point Avenue until midnight on Sunday and did not find him. PAWS Search and Rescue, Wilderness Search and Rescue and local public safety officers with sonar technology resumed the search on Monday.
