A multivehicle crash closed the Seward Highway in both directions at Twentymile River near Portage for hours Saturday, Anchorage police said in an alert.
Officers reported “very icy road conditions” on the highway Saturday morning, police said around 8:45 a.m. The collision occurred near Mile 80, close to where the Twentymile River bridge is located.
It wasn’t immediately clear whether anyone was injured or how many vehicles were involved. The highway reopened in both directions by 6:45 p.m.
