Woman struck by fire vehicle and seriously injured in Soldotna

A 72-year-old woman was seriously injured Thursday night when she was struck by a fire vehicle in Soldotna, Alaska State Troopers said.

A Central Emergency Services fire vehicle struck Judy Martin as she walked in the middle of the traffic lane on Gaswell Road around 9:15 p.m., troopers wrote in an online statement.

“Martin was struck as she walked in front of the fire vehicle which could not avoid striking her,” troopers wrote.

She was brought by ambulance to the Central Peninsula Hospital and was in serious condition, troopers said.

The road closed in the area for about 45 minutes after the collision, troopers said. The investigation is ongoing.
