Tracking COVID-19 in Alaska: State reports nearly 27% uptick in hospitalizations

The number of COVID-positive patients hospitalized in Alaska rose by almost 27% over a seven-day period, according to updated data from the state health department.

Other significant findings from this week’s update include:

• By Thursday, there were 85 COVID-positive patients hospitalized around the state, an increase from the 67 reported by the state a week earlier.

• The state health department reported no new COVID-19 deaths.

• 3,815 new cases were reported in Alaska over a seven-day period, an increase from 3,449 cases reported last week. That data doesn’t include at-home tests, which have become increasingly popular but don’t get reported.
