Anchorage man dies in Turnagain Pass collision

An Anchorage man was killed Monday night when the car he was riding in collided with a motor home on the Seward Highway near Turnagain Pass, Alaska State Troopers said.

The sedan crossed into oncoming traffic “at a high rate of speed” and was hit by the motor home just after 10 p.m. near Mile 69, troopers said.

A passenger, 46-year-old Jeffrey Andrews, died in the crash, according to troopers. Three other people were transported to an Anchorage hospital with injuries described as not life-threatening.

The Seward Highway was partially closed in the area for about 10 hours while troopers investigated and cleared the scene. The road was fully reopened around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Troopers said the investigation was ongoing and no citations had been issued.
