Magnitude 3.6 earthquake shakes Anchorage area

A magnitude 3.6 earthquake centered near Hope shook the Anchorage area just before 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The earthquake was centered 8 miles west of Hope, and about 23 miles south of downtown Anchorage, at a depth of about 19 miles, according to the Alaska Earthquake Center.

It was felt from Seward to Palmer.
