Victim of fatal construction accident identified

A man killed in an Anchorage construction accident Friday has been identified by police as 24-year-old Nicholson Tinker.

Tinker, of Anchorage, was killed while working with another man to remove an outdoor retaining wall at a four-plex on the 1500 block of West 40th Avenue, the Anchorage Police Department said.

The retaining wall fell on Tinker while he and his work partner were taking down its wooden support beams, police said. He was declared dead at the scene. No one else was hurt, APD said.

Tinker and the other man had planned to replace the outdoor wall with a new one, police said.

Police identified Tinker on Saturday after notifying his family of the accident.

Labor-safety regulators visited the accident site and are investigating, police said.
