The Anchorage Assembly approved two retail marijuana shop licenses Tuesday night, in the Fairview and Spenard neighborhoods, expanding the burgeoning crop of businesses where cannabis can be bought and sold in a few weeks' time.

One business, Alaskabuds, will be located at 1005 E. Fifth Ave. in Fairview. The second, Enlighten Alaska, picked a property at 2600 Spenard Road.

The businesses are aiming to open in November and mid-December, respectively.

A license for a grow operation, Raspberry Roots, also passed the Assembly on Tuesday.

Assembly members Amy Demboski and Eric Croft pressed the owners of the retail stores about parking, but both licenses passed unanimously.

The city's very first retail pot shop license passed at the Oct. 4 Assembly meeting.
