Anchorage NAACP to host forum for city election candidates

The Anchorage branch of the NAACP is hosting a moderated question-and-answer forum for Assembly and School Board candidates Thursday.

In an email, organizer Cal Williams called the event a "networking and educational experience." The city election is April 4.

Michael Carey, the former editorial page editor of the Anchorage Daily News and longtime host of Alaska Public Media's candidate interview series "Running," will moderate the question-and-answer session with Assembly candidates, Williams said.

School Board candidate questions will come from Anchorage businessman Robert Gottstein.

The event will take place from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Anchorage Senior Activity Center, 1300 E. 19th Ave.

The NAACP is nonpartisan, though the organization takes stances on a range of policy issues.

An RSVP would help organizers plan for food, Williams said. RSVP by texting Williams at 907-276-8698 or email calhouse17@gmail.com.
