Anchorage girl, 16, killed in Seward Highway motorcycle crash

A 16-year-old Anchorage girl was killed in a Seward Highway motorcycle crash just north of Girdwood Saturday.

Emily Tredway was riding a 2013 Honda motorcycle southbound when she "lost control and struck the guardrail" near milepost 91, about a mile north of the turnoff to Girdwood, Alaska State Troopers said Saturday. The first report of the crash came in at 2:56 p.m., troopers said.

The Anchorage Police Department was called to the scene. Tredway was taken to an Anchorage hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Tredway was a student at South Anchorage High School, according to district spokeswoman Catherine Esary.

Anchorage police are investigating the crash.
