About 5,100 Matanuska Electric Association customers were without power for several hours early Wednesday in Eagle River.

The Palmer-based cooperative said two substations were out, according to an update on Facebook at about 6 a.m. In an update just before 9 a.m., MEA said all service had been restored.

The outage began at 6:08 a.m. and all customers were back on line by 8:40 a.m., MEA spokeswoman Cassi Campbell said.

The cause of the outage couldn't be immediately determined, Campbell said.
