About 900 customers in West Anchorage lost power early Wednesday afternoon when a contractor doing underground work struck a power line, according to Municipal Light & Power.
The outage was affecting residents and businesses in the Spenard and Valley of the Moon neighborhoods, roughly spanning the area between Minnesota Drive and Arctic Boulevard in the vicinity of Northern Lights Boulevard, said Louis Velasco, a spokesman for Municipal Light & Power.
Velasco said power was completely restored to the area just after 2 p.m.
It will likely take at least a couple of days to repair the damaged line, he said. The company was rerouting power as a temporary fix in the meantime.
