Planned power outage to affect 700 Chugach Electric customers on Anchorage Hillside Wednesday night

A planned power outage could affect around 700 Chugach Electric customers on the Anchorage Hillside overnight Wednesday, the Chugach Electric Association said in a Facebook post.

The outage will take place between 11 p.m. Wednesday and 4 a.m. Thursday. Electricity will be turned off while utility crews replace a power pole that was struck by a vehicle, Chugach Electric said.

According to the utility, the area impacted by the outage is near O’Malley, Abbott and Birch roads, and Prospect Drive.

Overnight temperatures in Anchorage will be in the mid- to high 30s, according to the National Weather Service.
