Original story:

A man was found dead inside a parked car Sunday afternoon in West Anchorage, police say.

Officers were called to the 4000 block of Merrill Drive at 1 p.m. Tom Roberson, who was outside his son’s home near where the body was discovered, said he saw an officer arrive at the scene, peer into a red car and immediately grab tools to break into the vehicle.

Police said the man’s body showed signs of trauma. Detectives believe this is an isolated incident and said there is no public safety threat.

Officers have not made any arrests and the victim’s name was not immediately released.

Merrill Drive was blocked off with crime scene tape Sunday afternoon as homicide detectives and the crime scene team from the police department investigated.
