ML&P: East Anchorage power outage caused by vehicle hitting switch cabinet

Update, 6:35 p.m. Saturday: Power has been restored to ML&P customers affected by an outage in East Anchorage, according to the utility.

ML&P asked any customers still experiencing an outage to contact its dispatch center at 907-279-7671.

A power outage affecting about 2,800 ML&P customers in East Anchorage was caused by a vehicle that hit a switch cabinet, according to the utility.

A crew is working to restore power to customers, ML&P said in a post on Facebook. Those affected were concentrated around Bragaw Street and the Glenn Highway.

ML&P urged drivers to use caution in the area while streetlights were out, and reminded them to treat those intersections as four-way stops.
