East Anchorage collision involving dump truck and Honda kills passenger

The passenger who died in the Saturday collision has been identified by Anchorage police as Cindy Vang, 22.

A car crash involving a dump truck in East Anchorage left a woman dead and two people injured early Saturday morning, police said.

The crash occurred at East Seventh Avenue and Bragaw Street, police said in an alert. According to a preliminary investigation, a red Honda sedan heading west on East Seventh Avenue collided with the dump truck heading north on Bragaw.

The woman, who was a passenger in the Honda, was pronounced dead at the site of the crash, police said. The man who was driving the Honda and a boy who was also in the car were taken to the hospital with injuries described as not life-threatening. The dump truck driver was not injured, according to police, who are still investigating what caused the crash.

The woman’s identity will be released pending notification of next of kin.

Police asked anyone who witnessed the crash or has video or other information about the investigation to call dispatch at 311.
