Woman in critical condition after she was run over by SUV in East Anchorage, police say

A woman was run over by an SUV Monday morning after she tried to climb into the moving vehicle, according to the Anchorage Police Department.

Officers were called to Davis Park at 5801 Mountain View Dr. around 8:42 a.m., police wrote in an online statement. The woman and a man were arguing in the parking lot when he got into an SUV and began to drive away, police said. The woman tried to climb into the moving SUV, but police said she fell and was run over by the vehicle, which was also pulling a trailer behind.

The driver drove away without helping her and police said the woman was taken to the hospital and is now in critical condition.

The driver was not immediately identified or arrested Monday morning. Police asked anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have surveillance footage of the area to call Dispatch at 311.

“There are no further details to release on either the male suspect, or the vehicle he was driving, as of now,” police wrote.

A portion of the Davis Park parking lot was closed Monday morning while the Major Collision Investigative Unit was on scene.
