Think you need a COVID-19 test this week?

In addition to its standard drive-thru facilities, Anchorage has stood up several pop-up testing sites for those who need a test.

It’s free. And you don’t need a referral from a medical provider.

The city also has a handy site that shows you where you can get tested based on what day and time you’re available: anchoragecovidtest.org.

All sites are open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

What officials say to expect

While you don’t need to register in advance, results can come faster if you do. Upon arrival, head to back of the line. The line itself moves fast, as each car only takes a couple of minutes. Once you’re at the front, you’ll get checked in by confirming your name and birthday. Then it’ll be time for a brief swab of either your throat or nostrils.

Results take roughly less than 72 hours, city officials say, but some people have waited longer as testing demand increases.
